Tech Cocktail—happening 8-10 p.m. at the Indiana Memorial Union’s Alumni Hall—serves as the opening mixer for this year’s Combine. The Combine 2011: Why Bloomington?

So, you’ve heard about the Combine? Maybe you even attended the Combine in 2010. Excellent! But, you may be wondering why such a great conference is set in a small Midwestern town like Bloomington.

Without a doubt, there are many great tech conferences set in locales across the country from Silicon Valley to New York City. In recent years, great tech conferences have also sprung up in emerging tech communities like Boulder, CO, Austin, TX (SXSW) and Omaha, NE (Big Omaha).

Built up around Indiana University, Bloomington is, at heart, a thriving college town. But more than that, it is an oasis for technology and culture.
