The Combine 2011: Why Bloomington?
So, you’ve heard about the Combine? Maybe you even attended the Combine in 2010. Excellent! But, you may be wondering why such a great conference is set in a small Midwestern town like Bloomington.
Without a doubt, there are many great tech conferences set in locales across the country from Silicon Valley to New York City. In recent years, great tech conferences have also sprung up in emerging tech communities like Boulder, CO, Austin, TX (SXSW) and Omaha, NE (Big Omaha).
Built up around Indiana University, Bloomington is, at heart, a thriving college town. But more than that, it is an oasis for technology and culture. With a robust music and theater scene, eclectic restaurants, and no shortage of beautiful parks and nature preserves, Bloomington has become a destination for work and for play.
For many years, Bloomington has evolved a tech scene and it is with the support of Indiana University, local businesses, emerging start ups and an incredible group of “geeks” that we launched the Combine in 2010. Bloomington is perhaps one of Indiana’s best kept tech secrets and we’re ready to pull back the curtain! Read more on http://blog.thecombine.org.
